The summer holidays may almost be over but if you’re a parent you might still be tearing your hair out trying to think of a few more weeks’ worth of activities to keep your children entertained.
Hopefully the weather will be good this weekend so make a picnic and treat your kids to a fun day out.
Our favourite family days out:
Woburn Safari Park
Get closer to the animals at Woburn Safari Park – 360 acres of parkland with all all kinds of animals. Drive through the monkey enclosure and hope they don’t attack the car and see lions, tigers and elephants just feet away from the window. Park up and explore the foot safari with animal shows, Land of Lemurs and slithering snakes.
Chessington Land of Adventures
Combining a zoo with a theme park, Chessington has something for kids (and adults) of all ages, from the thrilling Vampire ride and Rattlesnake rollercoaster, to the Flying Jubos and the Bubbleworks. See gorillas, tigers and penguins from the Safari Skyway or wander around the zoo on foot. If you want to stay longer, then spoil the kids (and yourself) with a short Chessington Holidays break!
Everyone loves Lego, so spend some time marvelling at this land built from Lego. Explore Miniland with model scenes from Europe and the USA and get soaked on Pirate Falls Treasure Quest. If you’re feeling brave, take a ride on The Dragon that takes you through the Castle and high above the treetops. You won’t be able to see and do everything in just one day so why not treat the family to a Legoland Holiday?
With an underground rollercoaster, the world’s 14 looping rollercoaster and a laser quest haunted house, Alton Towers is one of the most popular days out in the UK. Younger kids will love CBeebies land with rides based on all of their favourite characters, including Charlie & Lola, Postman Pat and In the Night Garden. There’s also the Alton Towers WaterPark with a lazy river, water slides and bubble pools.
The Making of Harry Potter
Fans of the books and films will be amazed by what there is to see at Warner Bros. Studio. Walk past Privet Drive, explore Diagon Alley and see the rooms inside Hogwarts. Try some Butterbeer, ride a broomstick and find out how the film’s magic was brought to life. The studio shop sells everything related to Harry Potter’s wizarding world, including Hogwarts uniform, wands and Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans.
If you do treat the kids to one of our family days out, then don’t forget that you can book your train travel, accommodation and all sorts with us to earn epoints – which you can spend on other family activities!
